Chapter 10

"You are not supposed to call. We decided that we would not be talking to each other this morning until tonight, remember?" Amanda was in the kitchen making tea when her phone rang. She had told him last night that she would meet him, and they had spent more than half the night talking. She had gotten up this morning at eleven and was refusing to think about later. He told her he would make all the arrangement and text her the address of the restaurant.

"It's a friend's place, so we are ensured privacy."

"Sue me!" He growled. "I cannot help but want to talk to you."

Amanda poured her coffee, ridiculously pleased that he found her so irresistible. She ignored the coil in the pit of her stomach and put it down to anxiety and fear. What was there to be afraid of? They would meet later on and talk like they usually do and then eat. What they did afterwards, she was leaving entirely up to chance.

"Mason, I really wanted to be left alone and not think about later."

"Are you serious? Moira, I could not sleep for thinking of you."

"And it was the same with me." She sighed as she sat at the counter and wrapped her hand around the cup. "I have things to do and you are not letting me do them."

"What things?"

"I have nothing in my cupboard and the milk in my refrigerator is like a year old. Also, I need to get some stuff for my garden which has been neglected, also thanks to you."

"You are blaming me for everything."

"Okay, let’s see ever since we started talking, all I do is come home and jump on the computer and it has gotten worse since we started communicating by phone. We talk for all hours of the night and I don't have time to prepare myself for work. So, I have to jump up and hurry to get ready, leaving the house in a state of disarray."

"Are you saying I am bad for you?"

"I am saying exactly that, and I am not going to allow you to distract me today. I am seeing you later on."

"I cannot wait."

"I can."

"What are you saying?"

"I have a pit in my stomach the size of a golf ball or even bigger." She told him a little shakily.

"What do you think is going to happen, Moira?"

She got up and poured some more coffee before sitting back down. "I don't know."

"I do. We are going to be thrilled to see each other and we will have realized that we already know each other, and we will start talking a mile a minute seamlessly. Then…."

"Then what?"

"I don't want to preempt anything," he told her softly.

Amanda felt her heart picking up the rate and her fingers trembling. "Don't." Taking a deep breath, she let it out slowly. "Let's leave all the speculations out of it and wait for later. Should I at least tell you what I am wearing?"

"Do you already know that?"

"No,” She
